India’s response to climate change will shape the future of over a billion people. As the country pursues rapid growth, ensuring that this progress does not come at the cost of ecosystems or long-term security is critical. CSTEP’s research supports climate-resilient planning, low-carbon development, and informed policymaking to protect both people and the planet. By integrating nature-based solutions and clean energy, we help design strategies that prioritise equity, adaptation, and sustainability.
CSTEP works with governments and institutions to embed sustainability into development planning. We support state-level climate action through risk and vulnerability assessments that guide adaptive strategies. Our research explores low-carbon development trajectories, including deeper integration of renewables and nature-based interventions. By combining climate science with policy insights and capacity-building, we help shape resilient, future-ready systems that protect livelihoods and the environment.
