Science-Led Air Quality Monitoring for Cleaner Skies

Science-Led Air Quality Monitoring for Cleaner Skies

The group generates robust air quality data through field campaigns, source apportionment studies, and sensor evaluations. By analysing aerosol composition and pollutant levels using both high-grade and low-cost technologies, the group supports model development, informs public policy, and builds capacity through workshops, data portals, and knowledge-sharing platforms.

Contribution to the Grand Challenges

Our group contributes to the grand challenge of ensuring Clean Air for All by enabling evidence-driven air quality management. Through comprehensive field studies, state-of-the-art instrumentation, and systematic sensor evaluations, we provide critical insights into pollutant sources and composition. These insights are key for developing effective mitigation strategies and air quality models. We also focus on building institutional and community capacity via training sessions, open-access data portals, and peer-reviewed publications. Our science-driven approach helps bridge the gap between data and decision-making, empowering policymakers to implement targeted interventions for cleaner, healthier air—advancing India's goals for public health, environmental sustainability, and climate co-benefits.
