Our Impact
Shaping Smarter Policy for Cleaner Air
We identify emerging areas and critical gaps in the policy landscape and offer sectoral solutions based on policy analysis, field visits, and stakeholder consultations. These include the emission reduction potential of each intervention, cost projections, techno-economic analyses, and mapping of actors for implementation. We also develop robust monitoring, evaluation, and learning frameworks (MEL) for our recommendations and training programmes. Our capacity-building programmes provide curated training for various stakeholders, having trained over 200 government officials across 8 states.
Contribution to the Grand Challenges
The Policy and Outreach group plays a critical role in addressing the grand challenge of Clean Air for All by bridging scientific research and policy action. Recognising the complex, region-specific nature of air pollution in India, the group works closely with the Modelling and Observations teams to translate data into actionable strategies. By identifying policy gaps, evaluating interventions, and mapping implementation pathways, the group supports state governments in crafting targeted air quality plans. It also addresses information asymmetry and limited technical capacity by conducting training and stakeholder engagement, ensuring that clean air strategies are both evidence-based and locally implementable.
