The group advances India’s green hydrogen ecosystem by crafting adoption strategies for emission-intensive sectors like steel and cement and developing tools to locate optimal hydrogen production sites through integrated, cross-disciplinary methods.
Contribution to the Grand Challenges
Under the grand challenge of India’s Green Energy Transition, our group supports the development of a robust green hydrogen ecosystem. We focus on creating adoption strategies for hard-to-abate sectors such as steel and cement, where alternative decarbonisation pathways are limited. By conducting techno-economic assessments and stakeholder consultations, we aim to accelerate industrial-scale hydrogen deployment. Our interdisciplinary site-suitability tools help identify optimal locations for hydrogen production based on energy availability, water resources, and infrastructure. We also engage with policymakers to frame supportive regulations and incentives. Together, these efforts contribute to a low-carbon industrial future aligned with India’s net-zero ambitions.
