Our Impact

Innovating Carbon Solutions, Empowering Sustainable Growth

The group develops carbon capture pathways for hard-to-abate industries to create value-added products, such as methanol, urea, and petrochemicals. It analyses renewable energy technologies through life cycle and techno-economic studies, assesses the life cycle impacts of different farming practices, explores precision agriculture technologies, and identifies ways to reduce agricultural emissions while improving resource use and farmer incomes.

Contribution to the Grand Challenges

Our research in carbon capture, utilisation, and storage (CCUS), renewable energy, and climate-smart agriculture collectively addresses the grand challenge of ensuring a Sustainable and Secure Future while advancing India’s Clean Energy Transition. By developing pathways to capture and convert industrial CO2 emissions into valuable products, we support deep decarbonisation and circular economy. Our work on renewable technologies and small modular reactors accelerates the shift away from fossil fuels and strengthens energy resilience. Further, our focus on climate-smart agriculture promotes resource-efficient, low-carbon and technology-driven farming practices that enhance productivity, reduce environmental impact, and build climate resilience. Together, these efforts enable integrated, science-driven solutions that contribute to a low-carbon economy, food and energy security, and long-term climate sustainability.
