Web Application Developer

We are looking for a passionate Web Developer who is eager to learn and blend the art of design with strong software development skills to build web applications and tools within the AI and Digital Platforms group. This group is at the forefront of driving digital transformation to support the clean energy transition, improve air quality, and help build a secure and sustainable society. The role involves translating UI/UX wireframes into responsive, efficient code that brings visual elements of the application to life. Collaboration with other developers will be essential, along with contributing to both the design and functionality of the application, developing APIs, and integrating with databases. A strong commitment to problem-solving and delivering high-quality products is essential.


Responsibilities


  • Determine the structure and design of web pages and develop, test, and maintain software applications using Angular.js
  • Build reusable code and libraries for future use
  • Optimise applications for maximum speed and scalability

  • Identify and fix bugs; continuously improve application performance
  • Provide support to team members across various projects as needed


Qualifications


BE/BTech/MCA, web development experience, ranging from rapid prototyping to building production-ready applications by applying key design principles


Skill Set


  • Working knowledge of web markup, including HTML5, CSS3, jQuery, map libraries (e.g., Leaflet), and API integration
  • Good understanding of client-side scripting and JavaScript frameworks such as Angular

Consultant

We are seeking candidates with expertise in air pollution to generate evidence-based insights that can inform and drive mitigation efforts. The role calls for proficiency in statistical techniques and mathematical modelling, coupled with a strong understanding of core air pollution concepts. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to analyse and visualise data effectively, drawing actionable conclusions that can support policy and practice. A thorough grounding in bottom-up emission inventory development is essential, along with familiarity with the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) and working knowledge of monitoring–evaluation–learning frameworks. The role also entails conducting comprehensive reviews of academic literature and best practices to deliver high-quality research outputs, with a focus on air quality indicators, implementation strategies, and their evaluation.



Responsibilites


  • Collect and analyse diverse datasets to generate insights on air pollution.
  • Develop and maintain bottom-up emission inventories.
  • Contribute to multi-disciplinary projects through documentation, proposal writing, report preparation, project development, and drafting of technical reports and other knowledge outputs
  • Conduct policy gap analyses and identify drivers of policy change through literature review and stakeholder engagement.
  • Collaborate with CSTEP’s Air Quality Observations and Modelling teams to develop air quality indicators tailored to the Indian context.
  • Participate in conferences, workshops, and training programmes to strengthen expertise on air pollution risks.


Qualifications


Master’s degree in a discipline related to air pollution, atmospheric chemistry, general science, environmental science, environmental economics, engineering and public policy, or similar disciplines from a recognised university


Skill Set


  • Strong knowledge of NCAP, city action plans, XV Finance Commission reporting, and broader aspects of air quality management and policy in India.
  • Familiarity with mitigation technologies and demonstrated experience in cost analysis.
  • Expertise in financial modelling and techno-economic assessment will be an added advantage.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and programming languages, such as GIS, Python, R, or similar.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Excellent communication skills in English (written and oral); proficiency in Kannada, Punjabi, or another regional language will be an asset.

Intern(Video Editing)

The Intern (Video Editing) will be a part of the Communication and Policy Engagement (CPE) team for 6 months and will assist in developing video content that supports CSTEP’s research and outreach initiatives. The intern will contribute to editing videos for documentaries, social media, and campaigns and will also support basic filming and photography assignments. The ideal candidate should possess a flair for visual storytelling, have a working knowledge of video editing tools, and be willing to learn through field-based projects. The role may also include travel for video documentation.


Responsibilities


  • Edit short films, documentaries, and social media reels.
  • Assist in creating video content for campaigns, reports, and event highlights.
  • Support storyboarding and motion design tasks using Adobe After Effects.
  • Assist with basic videography and photography when needed.
  • Use visual storytelling techniques to enhance research narratives.
  • Help organise and maintain video footage and file systems.
  • Explore the use of AI-based tools (e.g., Runway) for video enhancements (basic level).
  • Collaborate with researchers to deliver high-quality visual content.
  • Learn and apply cinematic techniques in framing, lighting, and editing.
  • Maintain consistency in visual style, in alignment with CSTEP’s branding.


Qualifications


Bachelor’s degree (completed or ongoing) in media studies, communication, film, animation, or a related field.


Skill set


  • Basic experience in video editing and visual storytelling through academic or personal projects.
  • Experience in videography or photography would be a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects.
  • Basic understanding of Adobe Animate or frame-by-frame animation.
  • Familiarity with handling cameras for video or photo shoots.
  • Good sense of visual composition, rhythm, and storytelling.
  • Interest in cinematic techniques and on-field learning.
  • Some awareness of AI-supported editing tools.
